HAPPY TAILS

Every dog we rescue has a story. Here are some of the beautiful endings — and new beginnings — made possible by our amazing foster and adopter community.

Happy Tails, Olive!

Happy Tails, Olive!

Our sweet Olive is HOME! ❤️

And what an incredible home she has found! Her new family absolutely adores her, and they can't believe how quickly she settled in and made herself at home. Her mom told us that Olive is one of the most empathetic, gentle, loving, and affectionate dogs she has ever had. 🥹💕

Olive has the most wonderful mom who absolutely loved her and a responsible human sister who cares so much for her and is thrilled to her home.

Olive also has a beautiful home with a lovely yard where deer stop by to visit, making her new surroundings even more magical. 🦌💚 We've also heard she's already making lots of new doggo and kiddo friends in the neighborhood, and it's been such a joy to see her settling into her wonderful new life so effortlessly.

Since Olive will officially become a senior girl when she turns seven in August, we waived her adoption fee.

We also gifted Olive an adoption goodie bag with a bed, stand with food and water bowls, cool mat (donated by a wonderful neighbor here 🙂), treats and toys.

Happy Tails, sweet girl! ❤️ We couldn't be more excited for you and your wonderful new family. Wishing you a lifetime of love, adventures, cozy naps and belly rubs.

Happy Tails, Teddy Bear

Happy Tails, Teddy Bear

Teddy Bear is HOME! 🏡

Teddy Bear, an adorable little Chow Chow boy who was found abandoned in San Ramon — in an area heavily populated with coyotes. His coat was painfully matted and he was in heartbreaking shape. 😔

A Found Pet Report was filed with Contra Costa County Animal Services (CCAS). Two foster families took turns taking care of him during his 30-day legal stray hold.

Once Teddy Bear’s 30-day legal stray hold ended and no one came forward to claim him, we officially brought him into our rescue, got him neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and addressed another medical issue he was dealing with. Because Chow Chows are such a unique and special breed — we knew we needed to find him a very special forever home with experienced adopters who truly understood the breed. 🤞

Then something amazing happened. A wonderful contact connected us with a family who had many years of Chow Chow experience and were interested in adopting Teddy Bear. From the very first conversation, we had a great feeling about this family. After completing an application, a home check and several conversations over many weeks, it was finally time… to take Teddy Bear HOME. ✨🥳

Today, Teddy Bear lives with a wonderful couple in a beautiful home with a HUGE fenced yard. He spends his days lazily lounging on the back porch, chasing squirrels, and watching ducks swim in the pond. Most importantly, he is deeply loved, safe, and pampered — just as he always deserved to be. 🥰 🏡

Happy Tails, Teddy Bear! We will always love you, sweet boy. 🙂😘

Happy Tails, Meryl

Happy Tails, Meryl

Meryl is HOME! 🙂🎉🥳🎊

Sometimes, we find the doggos who need homes. And sometimes, the doggos somehow find us. 🐾💛

One of our board members was casually browsing Facebook when we came across Meryl’s post. Meryl is a senior Chihuahua who had lost her home and was living in limbo with a kind-hearted family who took her in temporarily.

As we read about her difficult journey and all the hardships she had been through, her story tugged at our hearts. We just had a gut feeling that we were meant to help her — so we reached out to see what we could do.

As luck would have it, we already had an application from a wonderful gentleman who had recently lost his beloved pup and was hoping to open his heart to another small dog. We arranged a meet-and-greet, and well… it was a match made in doggo heaven. 🥹

Meryl, being the affectionate little cuddle bug she is, hopped right onto his lap, melted into his arms and gave him tons of kisses. And the gentleman was completely head over heels too and asked “Can I take her home NOW?” 🥰 After completing a home check, Meryl officially went home with her foster dad.

At The Arlo Foundation, all of our dogs have to go through a mandatory two-week foster-to-adopt period so we can ensure the match is truly the right fit for both dog and adopter. During that time, we checked in regularly — and every single update confirmed what we had already guessed…this was meant to be. 💖

We couldn’t have found a kinder and more wonderful human being to be Meryl’s guardian! Now Meryl gets to cuddle and cozy up all day with her dad, go on daily walks, play with the neighborhood doggos and meet and interact with her dad’s friends every day. She has bonded so deeply with him in just two weeks that she doesn’t leave his side even for a minute - not even when she is off-leash!

Because Meryl is both a senior and a medical-needs dog, we waived her $150 adoption fee. We also covered her cardiology test and dental surgery. She’s safe now, and we’ve got her every step of the way.

We’ll continue checking in regularly over the next few months to support both Meryl and her dad as they settle into this beautiful new chapter together.

Happy tails, Meryl. Your hardest days are behind you now. Go LIVE and LOVE your life, sweetheart! 🐶✨

Happy Tails, Nova

Happy Tails, Nova

Nova. Is. HOME!!!! 🎉🏡🐾

Nova was once being given away for free…and if no one stepped in, her family was planning to surrender her to an overcrowded shelter. 💔

But then—a kind gentleman saw her post and stepped in to help. He opened his heart and home, fostering Nova for an entire year. Through a friend, he recently connected with The Arlo Foundation, hoping to find her the loving forever home she truly deserved. 🐶

When we met Nova, it was love at first shy tail wag! 💛 We made sure she received all her vaccinations and got her heartworm tested, setting her up for a healthy new beginning.

After spending time with her, we saw how deeply she had bonded with her foster dad, so we knew she needed someone just as gentle, patient, and kind—someone who would understand her sweet soul. And because of how shy she is and how easily she startles, she needed a home without little kids who may unintentionally surprise her while they were playing.

We received several applications… but none of them felt quite right. Until THIS WONDERFUL FAMILY came along and wanted to meet Nova—and even better, they had experience with labradors and large dogs. After meeting Nova and agreeing to a home-check, they immediately signed up for our two-week mandatory foster-to-adopt program. 🐾

Today, Nova is living her dream life…
With a loving mom who absolutely adores her 🥰
A devoted dad who takes her on long walks and spends quality time with her all day so she’s never alone 🚶‍♂️🐕
And a grandpa who spoils her rotten by sneaking in treats 💖

She now has a big, fenced yard to run free 🌿
A cozy bed to curl up in 🛏️
And lots and lots of toys… though she’s still figuring those out 😄🧸

We also sent her home with a little “Arlo” love—an adoption bag filled with goodies. 🎁🐾 We are going to miss this sweet girl, but oh dog, we are so darn happy for her!

Nova’s journey is a reminder of what compassion, patience, and community can do. 💛

From “free to a home” to “forever home”… this is why we do what we do. 🐶✨

Happy Tails, sweet girl Stay loved! 🏡💖🐾

Happy Tails, Honey

Happy Tails, Honey

Honey—a sweet pup once abandoned by her family and then again on the brink of being surrendered to an overcrowded county shelter after more than a year of uncertainty—is now officially ADOPTED and HOME! 🐶

We stepped in to give Honey a fresh start—placing her with an incredible foster family, ensuring she received all her vaccinations, heartworm test and we are doing a complete blood panel to support her journey to health and happiness. She was already spayed and microchipped—fully ready to begin her beautiful new life. 🙂

It didn’t take long for her foster parents to realize she was meant to be theirs. And oh…the feeling was mutual—Honey is absolutely head-over-paws in love with her new family too! 🥰

Today, she has the life she always deserved: a beautiful home, a yard where she can finally run free, and daily walks filled with new sights and smells. After spending over a year confined to a room, she now gets to cuddle on the couch nextflixing and chilling and burrows into her mama’s blanket at night.❤️

Our hearts are overflowing with joy for this girl. Happy Tails, sweetheart! 💛🐕

Review from Honey's family: "About a month ago my wife read about a little rescue dog named Honey! The Arlo Foundation required us to see her, then they required a visit to our home. Arlo foundation thought we could foster to see if we were in truth a match or if we had changed our mind. We told them that if they left her with us, Honey was going to be ours! Arlo Foundation paid for her vet bills before turning her over to us (wow). That was a month ago and Honey has become a part of the family. I give her, her breakfast then her morning walk; followed by more nap with mom. When I get home from work another walk, after dinner one last walk. She has not had an accident in the house and we don't think she will. She is a true love and can lay on the couch while we watch tv. And when it's time to go to bed we take her bed upstairs and she sleeps until I wake her up in the morning and we repeat. Honey is a fantastic little addition to our family and even our son is totally invested in her happiness."

Happy Tails, Reggie

Happy Tails, Reggie

Happy Tails, Reggie!

We are absolutely over the moon to share that sweet Reggie is officially HOME! And what a perfect match it is.

Reggie now has the most wonderful humans who already adore him, and a sweet little dog sister, Ella who has been showing him the ropes and gently introducing him to the house rules.

Reggie was abandoned on the streets of Stockton months ago... alone and uncertain about his future.
Today, he is safe, loved, and exactly where he belongs — in a home filled with warmth, kindness, and family.

Stories like Reggie's remind us why rescue matters. From hardship to happiness, from the streets to a forever home — this is the kind of ending we all hope for.

Have the most beautiful life, Reggie. We love you!

Review from Reggie's new family: "The Arlo foundation was a pleasure to work with! I stumbled across Reggie's (formerly Archie's) post on Nextdoor by chance, I had been thinking of adopting a second dog for awhile after we unfortunately had to put our senior dog Chico down last year but hadn't found the right match. I shook my boyfriend awake to tell him I had arranged for a meet and greet with a new dog tomorrow morning and he sleepily agreed. We fell in love when we met Reggie and have been training him. Our other dog Ella has even began playing with him a bit some mornings. We have been in touch regularly with the Arlo foundation with updates and they have been helpful with any questions that have come up along the way. Thank you for completing our family!"

Happy Tails, Milo

Happy Tails, Milo

Milo, a sweet Shepherd mix, was found wandering as a stray. The wonderful person who found and brought him to safety filed a Found Pet report with the local county shelter, shared his photo on social media, and lovingly fostered him while hoping his family would come forward.

When the 30-day stray hold came and went with no one claiming him, she reached out to us to help him find the forever home he truly deserved.

And well, it didn't take long. Within a week of posting Milo, a wonderful family asked to meet him - and it was pure magic from the start! Milo instantly connected with them... and even won over the family cat! It was love at first tail wag and happy butt wiggles.

Now Milo is living the dream - Tahoe trips and frolicking in the snow t pup cups, and even occasional
days at work with his dad (psssst... rumor is he's everyone's favorite coworker

From stray to spoiled - this is exactly what we hope for every rescue dog.

Happy Tails, sweet Milo!

Happy Tails, Bella

Happy Tails, Bella

Bella's journey began when she was found wandering as a stray alongside another male dog. A found report was filed with the local shelter, but they were full to the brim- and thankfully, a kind foster stepped in to give them both a safe place to land.

Once Bella's stray hold ended, we made sure she was fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped - ready for the bright future she deserved. It didn't take long for that future to find her. Shortly after we posted her, a wonderful family requested a meet-and-greet... and it was true love at first tail wag!

Today, Bella is living her best life in a beautiful home filled with love, kindness and understanding. She even has a kitty friend to hang out with and call her very own.

From stray to cherished family member — this is exactly why we do what we do.

Happy Tails, sweet girl!

Review from Bella's family: My family and I adopted Bella from The Arlo Foundation. These ladies were determined to place Bella in her furever home and that, they did!  She immediately warmed her way into our hearts…best decision we’ve ever made! ♥️

Their compassion and dedication to help Bella, and the countless others, is heartwarming. They went up and beyond to set Bella up in our home. They provided us with food, treats, bedding and toys. They even started a Go Fund Me to help with Bella’s initial Veterinary expenses.

If you are looking to adopt, you are in the right hands with The Arlo Foundation. They will be there to support you every step of the way. Their unconditional love and commitment for all animals in need is the reason this foundation exists!!!
